Kyu Bara Sou is a traditional local bar situated in the heart of the iconic old town of Noge, only a short walk from Sakuragicho station in the port city of Yokohama. With the building dating back 70 years, it is one of the oldest bars in Yokohama. Kyu Bara Sou's retro decor both inside and out, offering a mix of the traditional Japanese bar with some western influence, hark back to Yokohama's history as the first port that opened to international trade some 170 years ago. Come and enjoy this cosy bar and its music where the friendly staff will serve up your choice of reasonably priced drinks and cocktails.
Kyu Bara Sou will welcome you with warm hospitality.
Message from the owner
In Japan, modernization has sadly taken away character from many of its cities. Here in Noge, the nostalgic charm from the past 50 years has been remarkably preserved. Kyu Bara Sou, one of the oldest bars in the district, can be considered somewhat a cultural heritage.
My mission as the owner of this special bar is to continue its legacy together with my customers, through sincere service with good music, drinks and communication.
Please join us.
We look forward to welcoming you.

About the owner
So Soma
Having spent much of my childhood in Brazil and Venezuela, I also spent 15 years travelling Japan and the world as a tour operator before becoming owner of Kyu Bara Sou.
Welcoming customers in my trademark red shirt, at the heart of my service is the philosophy that ARIGATO, a sense of gratitude, is enough to break down any language or cultural barriers for the world to communicate and live in peace and harmony.
